Ethnography Report – June 22, 20070

It’s almost 11:00 am. I want to write part of this Ethnography, but the people behind me are distracting my thoughts with their talking and eating. I shall begin this report talking about the problems we confronted with “edublogs” this morning. I could not upload my latest ethnography, and possibly I will not be able to upload this one. I think I will have to do it during the weekend.            Moving to another subject, my ethnography presentation will be next Monday, and my eportfolio presentation will be on Tuesday. These are great news, for I will have more time to prepare for these events.            Having a lunch break helped me to distract myself for while. All of the food was delicious: the chicken, the salads, the antipasto, and the desserts (wow! we must join together to make a catering service; maybe it could help us to alleviate from the I.V.U.!).            At the shopping mall in the evening, I could see all the stores with “Back-to-School” signs and advertisement; which reminded me that June is almost gone, and July remains to rest and clean up my room from the last “End-of-School” season. I felt a bit strange, but, to tell you the truth, I shall miss this great summer adventure. It has been a heartwarming experience since last summer classes, because I felt like a college student again: having new friends, learning more about different subjects, and enjoying all these new technology stuff. I will never forget it.

Ethnography Report – June 25, 20070

On the first day of our presentations, the professor showed an emotional video reflection about Tony Meléndez, who, despite his impediments, he has exceeded all of his obstacles.          After that beautiful message, I presented my reflection and ethnography for last Friday. I enjoyed all the presentations, Carmen, Maribel, Rafaela and Marialina really did the best of them.          After class, I stayed with Manuel and Irene at the LAD, to change some details of the instructional module. Then, I returned back home to rest until the “great day”.

Ethnography Report – June 26, 20070

On our second day of presentations, the reflection and ethnography was given by
Rosa.  Then, Elizabeth Ruiz showed her e portfolio, very “professional”, as always. Then, Sandra did hers. She is very talented  and a good friend. She showed her presentation and her module with dominion. I know all of us liked it, and there is something I would like her to know; she is a brilliant and dedicated teacher.
Waiting and waiting, but at last it was my turn. I was a little worried about it. I know I dedicated fully to make my presentation well, but I always get nervous.           Finally, I did it! Now I feel free! I said to the professor that I felt like if I could levitate. Yesterday night I was thinking on this Summer Institute and suddenly I began to feel a little sad, because I’ll miss everyone. Even though now I can wake up late in the morning, I’ll miss my classmates and the lab. This was one of the many wonderful experiences I have ever had.

Ethnography Report – June 21, 20070

I came early this morning to the classroom. Thankfully  the professor was in the laboratory, so I could finish some of my work.  I began adding special effects to my movie. I tried to write my ethnography report, but the edublogs server was slow.  To make things worse, the professor didn’t find two of my ethnographies and my “FORMS” test.

            Later,
Elizabeth thought on an assignment for tomorrow. We have to create another presentation on power point. (Bravo,
Elizabeth!)  Then, I did the writing prompt before the professor ordered us to search for a “wikispace”page on the web.

“Lunch time!”, said the professor. I went with my friends Sandra, Mirian, Elizabeth and Irene to the cafeteria. There, we talked about the unfinished works we had. Back at the lab, I finally uploaded my movie and worked with Manuel and Irene on the instructional module, but we still need more time.

At home, I worked on the instructional module, writing the objectives and a practice exercise.

Ethnography Report – June 20, 20070

Today the professor showed a funny video clip of a cow dancing. After that  Sandra presented her reflection of a poem and her ethnography report.

I wrote the writing prompt and began to add my ethnography. The internet server was very slow, so I had to postpone it for the afternoon.

After lunch I started to create the newsletter using photos from the field trip. This work takes time and dedication so I spent the rest of the class doing it  ( although I  was not  able to finish it.

I couldn’t use the internet at home and that made feel anxious. Because of this, I will  have to do it again in the lab.

Ethnography Report – June 19, 20070

I couldn’t go to classes today. I had to see the doctor. An intense pain bothered me all night long.

Waiting for the doctor, going to the laboratory and at last, buying the medicine in the pharmacy. I finished with those errands at noon.

After calling Mirian and begged her to excuse me for the day, I went to my school in Frontón. One by one, my friends came. We had to be registered in the new electronic system.

After this, I went home. I felt tired and the pain was continuous. I couldn’t even walk. I turned on my computer and searched for my movie. Oh, my God! There were no pictures. I forgot to save my movie, so I had to start over again. When I finished, I clicked  “Save Movie”, but the computer had frozen. Bad luck again!
